In 1913, Rudolf Steiner laid the foundation stone for the Anthroposophical Colony in Dornach near Basel with the construction of the Goetheanum and its ancillary buildings. Since then, over 180 residential and commercial buildings have been constructed on the Goetheanum hill, designed by various architects in an organic expressionist style, also known as the "Goetheanum style." This unique ensemble, with its synthesis of nature and culture, has long attracted visitors from all over the world. Surprisingly, however, it has remained largely undocumented to this day.

This handy guide now provides, for the first time, detailed documentation, illustrations, and plans for a wide selection of buildings and suggests four architectural trails for visitors to explore the buildings in their surroundings. It also includes in-depth essays on the Dornach Hill and a complete index of all anthroposophical buildings in Dornach and the neighboring towns of Arlesheim and Aesch.
